A417 closure is causing chaos in Fairford - why are councils closing roads these day for resurfacing They don't seem to do the work any quicker than when they operated a traffic light system.

Lorries are being sent on a massive detour via Kempsford and Down Ampney. Worse thing is that there is no indication for cars as to where the road is actually closed so it is uncertain how much of a detour you need to make.
