Dennis Grant, the former Chief Executive of the Cotswold Water Park Society, has appeared in court in Stroud charged with fraud.
He is accused of taking more than £700,000 from the society. Mr Grant, 63, of Upper Tadmarton, Banbury, is charged with six counts of fraud and one of obtaining a money transfer by deception.
The offences are alleged to have taken place between November 2006 and July 2009.
The charges centre on allegations that he had money paid into his bank account that was properly due to the CWPS, involving funds from companies including solicitors Withy King, Mayo’s Famous For Food Ltd, Watermark Group Ltd and the Co-op.
Mr Grant was arrested last May with former CWPS finance director Nick Hanson, who died several months later of a suspected heart attack.
Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the case was listed to be heard in the Crown Court.
